Creating connections that change lives

We train assistance dogs to support, empower, and help people live more independently.

At Montis Canis, we believe in the power of the bond between humans and dogs.
We train and support assistance dogs in accordance with the standards of Assistance Dogs International (ADI), to support people living with conditions such as autism, diabetes, psychiatric disabilities, seizure disorders, and other medical needs.

Our mission is to help each individual find balance through a unique partnership with their dog.
We work closely with families to create strong, reliable teams, where trust, understanding, and joy guide every stage of the training process.
Each dog becomes a dedicated partner, capable of providing calm, safety, and independence to their human teammate.

Our approach is based on positive reinforcement and absolute respect for animal welfare.
We believe that a good assistance dog is, above all, a happy dog—understood, respected, and listened to.
This is why we offer both professionally trained assistance dogs and the possibility to work with the beneficiary’s own dog, within a supportive and fully personalised framework.

Based in the French Pyrenees, we also operate in Catalonia, ensuring that people on both sides of the mountains can benefit from compassionate, personalised, and long-term support.

At Montis Canis, we see every partnership as a story of trust, freedom, and transformation — a shared journey between two beings learning to understand one another in order to move forward together.

Our specialisations
Every dog we train has a unique mission: to support, alert, and accompany. Our programmes include medical assistance dogs (diabetes alert, seizure detection, and other health-related needs) as well as psychiatric assistance dogs (anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress, and related conditions).

All our dogs are trained with full respect for animal welfare and with the goal of achieving a harmonious, well-balanced partnership between the human and their canine companion.

Obtaining an assistance dog

Applying for an assistance dog is a deeply personal journey, often driven by the desire to gain greater independence and daily peace of mind.

Each project is unique: we take the time to understand each person’s situation, expectations, and lifestyle in order to build a balanced and lasting partnership between the individual and their dog.
